Opioid Response Network

Mobilize Recovery 2023’s technical assistance, commitment & impact partner.

Mobilize Recovery 2023 is collaborating with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration-funded Opioid Response Network (ORN) to help support & implement 2023 commitments made nationally & regionally. ORN is led by the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry, working with the University of Missouri–Kansas City, Columbia University, and a 46-partner organization coalition spanning prevention, treatment, recovery, and beyond. ORN offers no-cost, evidence-based training and education to meet local needs in addressing the opioid crisis and issues arising from all substance use disorders.

The Opioid Response Network (ORN) is structured like a temporary agency to enhance local initiatives through no-cost education and training. Every state and territory has local ORN consultants to help build on existing efforts and refine and fill gaps.

ORN works with counties, states, health professionals, communities, organizations, grassroots initiatives, the justice system, and anybody that asks for help. All training and education are provided at no cost. For example, ORN can:

  • Provide evidence-based practices and guidance on Naloxone distribution and market saturation. This can be as simple as a Zoom Q&A discussion or an in-house, all-staff training
  • Mentorship on recovery housing and recovery support services. ORN recovery consultants can provide education on local regulatory considerations
  • Deliver an on-demand presentation on the science of addiction and the effectiveness of medications for opioid use disorder

Mobilize Recovery 2022

In 2022, the Mobilize Recovery Across America bus traveled 10,403 miles —passing over 25 states + the District of Columbia — and hosted over 35 organizing events throughout September 2022. By the end of the tour, it was covered with thousands of messages and names that represent an extraordinary amount of hope.

Together as we crossed the country, we distributed over 11,000 fentanyl test strips, 10,000 free overdose response kits with naloxone, registered new recovery voters, hosted organizing trainings, public narrative trainings, and new ways for the recovery community to engage. In just under one month, our message reached over 1 million Americans through Facebook and iHeart.
